CreateATL: A PArklet For the People
Nestled in the heart of Adair Park, CreateATL is a community collaboration space designed to support neighbors, cultural programming, and inspiring ideas. With their inclusive mission, give back attitude, and progressive mission, Create is the perfect GreenBox Space.
Launched in Fall of 2024, this has been an ongoing labor of love for the crew at GreenBox, as we've worked with the seasons and Mother Nature to turn the innovative ATL Parklet behind Create into a bird and bug refuge just stones throw away from the growing Adair Park and West End neighborhoods.
The Plan
There are two distinct areas to the ATL parklet at Create: the more formal square garden at the back, and the wilder native playground surrounding the 'ATL'. At the back, we've planted pollinator species like Joe Pye Weed, Cutleaf Coneflower, Coreopsis, Creeping Thyme, Creeping Phlox, and Fleabane. Around the 'ATL,' we've allowed volunteer species like Goldenrod, Crimson Clover, and Switchgrass to proliferate in order to build soil, cover bare soil, and give a natural shape to the parklet.
This spring, we're adding 18" paths throughout the parklet to give visitors access to the back of the parklet, where a native Pawpaw will soon be joined by another. We'll also be removing invasive species, and reseeding with native species like Coneflower, Black-Eyed Susan, Cornflower, Coreopsis, and Green + Gold to provide a lush area for visitors to sit, relax, watch the butterflies, and daydream of a better world.
