About the event

The time is finally here, folks! Our first ever Roots Down Member meeting is going to pop off on May 3 with a special micro-course on disaster preparedness taught by Charlotte Cecil, Founder of Thrivespring. Snag some tips on making your family, your home, and your neighborhood more resilient, get connected to other Roots Down Members, and get the skinny on what's coming down the pike here at the wild world of Roots Down.

About the Guest Speaker

Charlotte Cecil is the co-founder of Thrivespring, an online platform for community resilience and disaster risk management. Thrivespring helps people connect locally and create impactful, ambitious grassroots initiatives to mitigate the effects of disasters and build more robust, adaptive, and prepared communities.

Charlotte studied emergency management at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. She has been a volunteer responder with various response and recovery groups, and worked for many years as a security consultant in the UK. Following a life-threatening incident in her early 20s, she became interested in emergency preparedness and security, which evolved into a passion for community resilience. She strongly believes that communities which engage in inclusive resilience-building help create safer, healthier and more cohesive societies.
